Acrylic (Rods, Tubes & Decorative)

Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), otherwise known as Acrylic is a clear/transparent plastic often used in lieu of glass.

Acrylic comes in a wide variety of forms and is either extruded or cast into the desired section shape. Cast acrylic often has better optical clarity and dimensional stability than extruded sections but can be significantly more expensive.

Acrylic is easy to work with and is easy to adhere using readily available adhesives such as superglue or clear resins. It is also possible, in some circumstances to melt acrylic products together.

Although heat can be a problem at larger diameters, Acrylic can be easily cut using a hacksaw, and finished using sandpaper. It is also possible to polish the surfaces using household polishes such as Brasso wadding.
